HIGH EXPECTATIONS FOR ALL STUDENTS
Community Roots believes that all students can meet high academic standards and provides the support and challenges that each individual student needs to be successful.

STUDENT TO TEACHER RATIO
Two teachers in every classroom allows for increased individual attention for each student and varied learning settings combining whole group, small group, and individual work and instruction.

INCREASED TEACHER-FAMILY COMMUNICATION
Teachers and families communicate on a regular basis through conferences, newsletters, phone calls, and email. We see families as partners in their children’s education.

SCHOOL CULTURE
Safe, nurturing, and encouraging

LEADERSHIP STRUCTURE
Co-direction model allows for higher levels of communication and collaboration between teachers, families, and students.

RICH, RIGOROUS AND ENGAGING CURRICULUM
The Community Roots curricular model is based on extensive research of other highly successful schools. Students are invested and excited about learning and have extended time in literacy experiences.

LONGER SCHOOL DAY
Community Roots recognizes that it is essential for all students to have direct academic instruction, enrichment opportunities, and arts education within the regular school day, which runs from 8:15-3:45.

INCREASED PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT (PD) FOR TEACHERS
Community Roots teachers are committed to ongoing learning and participate in two hours of PD each week, ensuring that students have access to the highest quality instruction.

EXTENDED DAY OPPORTUNITY
Community Roots offers an optional extended day from 3:45-5:45 for students beginning in first grade, which combines academics and enrichment.

INCLUSIVE ENVIRONMENT
All students benefit from an inclusive education where students of varying abilities learn together in a supportive environment.
